Rules for selecting channels to draft:
- Start with ratings of 10 and go down from there
- 10x channel size rule (look at channels 10x sub number)
- EXCEPTION to above: if you have an under 5k sub channel, start by looking at channels 10k subs or more
- Don't draft more than 15 channels
- Pick videos from the last 12 months
Helpful Pointers:
- Draft channels that are ~10x your channel size
- If your channel is below 5k subscribers, draft starting at ~10k subs, up to ~50k subs. If you can’t find channels in that range, keep looking . They’re often much harder to find at that size, but you can filter your search by “channels” to help you. If that doesn’t work, start finding fringe channels. Fringe channels have at least a 50% overlap in audience with what your channel is/what you’re looking to make.
- When your channel reaches ~100k+ subs, drafting starts to be more lateral (meaning you continue to draft bigger channels, but can also take a lot of clues from similar sized channels). This is because at that channel size most channel makers have a solid grip on what they’re doing.
