YouTube isn't competition the same way you'd traditionally think about it. It's more like music; people can like more than one artist and they can like more than one channel. (even in a similar niche)

Begin laying the groundwork for good industry connections.  You'll be doing this in perpetuity. You won't stop.

 

  1. Use your drafted channels list.
  2. Find channels that are similar in size
  3. Be genuine.
  4. Appreciate what others are making.

COMMENTING FOR EXPOSURE:
A format of collaboration, getting exposure.

Higher subscriber channels are more likely to be favored in the comments. (show up higher)

Early Channel:

 

  • Not good for gaining audience.
  • Better for establishing connections with the makers of similar size channels in a similar niche.

Established Channel:

 

  • Still not good for gaining audience.
  • Name recognition from current audience.
  • Recognition from channel maker.
