Momentum is affected most by the following kinds of videos.
Kite videos:
These aren't viral videos, but viral videos could be these.
What you do after the video has a huge impact on whether it becomes a Kite or not.
Breaking Point:
When views reach a certain percentage ABOVE your Baseline of Views, the video will continue to grow for a while. The algorithm gives impressions based on response over time.
Anchor videos:
In many ways, these are opposite from Kite videos.
These are only really bad if you have multiple in a row.
Usually, neither kind of video will make or break your momentum by itself but do serve as indicators for your next strategies.
Outside factors:
Seasonality
Predictable major life events in a large group of your audience such as going back to school.
A non-predictable major life event such as a disaster or political change.
Factors awareness:
Pre-plan for predictable factors.
Adapt to non-predictable, major news, or large changes in your industry.
